Good morning, Hope!
Spring is just five days from now! After the serious melting and rain the last few days, I can't wait for those predicted temperatures of 50+ in the coming week.
Two days ago, I was on my way to church and observed a rescue of a man caught in the water filling up Walnut Creek. I can't imagine the flood (no pun intended) of emotions the man had hanging onto that tree for dear life. But I have to believe he had faith in the first responders to not only reach him in time, but to bring him safely to shore.
As we journey through our sermon series, Gospel of Mark #MiracleMarch, you might be picking up that faith in Jesus is a big deal. It's interesting that in today's Christian walk we put such a big focus on spiritual disciplines or studies as a test to determine if a person has actual or real faith. Jesus seems not so interested in giving individuals a litmus test of what may or not be known about him. Instead it seems clear that faith saves. We'll see this again in this week's lesson found in Mark 5:35-43.
Life is always bringing new events, challenges and unexpected interruptions. How are you prepared with your faith in Jesus when things begin to bubble up that you have no control over? I encourage you to noodle on that before this weekend.
As we journey in Lent, don't miss the opportunities to connect, grow and serve:
Remember God loves you!
