Ignition at Des Moines is Hope Des Moines' ministry for high school students in grades 9-12. Ignition meets Wednesdays during the school year from 7:30-8:45 pm.
No matter how shy, busy, popular or religious a student may or may not be, high school can be tough to navigate these days. That is why Ignition is designed to be a weekly oasis where students can simply belong without having to fit in, be inspired to live out their God-given purpose, and find new life in Christ! Ultimately, at Ignition we truly desire that every student would experience God’s love for them, follow Jesus wholeheartedly and love everyone always.
What to Expect
- Community Time (Pre-Ignition) - 7:00-7:30 pm
Students are invited to join us to organically cultivate relationships and connect before heading into Ignition with activities like video games, food, and arts and crafts. There's something for everyone and all are invited!
- Worship/Talk - 7:30 pm
Things kick-off with a couple of announcements, followed by worship! We then have a small game segment before diving into the talk for the night.
- Small Groups
Following the talk, we break into small groups (groups are divided by gender). These groups are a place to connect, grow, and deepen relationships, all while also exploring our faith.
- Outside Events
We don't want Ignition to just be a "program" on Wednesday nights. While it’s important to worship together weekly as a community, we want to further engage with one another throughout the school year to have fun and serve our city through a number of events! Various events will take place throughout the year. Visit our calendar to learn more or sign up for additional Ignition opportunities.
Whether you are great with teenagers or do your best work behind the scenes, Ignition can’t happen without the help of faithful adult volunteers! Click here to register.
