Hope Waukee Preschool Program
At Hope Waukee’s Preschool, our program engages children in active, joyful learning surrounded by teachers and friends whose countless smiles and endless hugs are treasured. Our preschool is a place where children learn about Jesus and his never-ending love for each of us, experience the rewards of making a friend and the joy of being one!
Activities and Play
Active play is how we want your child to grow and learn, and we provide fun supplies and activities to engage children’s interests and capabilities. Daily we offer both organized activities and more unstructured play. Areas of focus include dramatic play, writing experiences, table toys and blocks. We even engage children by teaching science, reading books and how to listen and create. Our engagement activities are specifically selected to encourage exploration, independence and creative thinking.
Staying in Touch
Each teacher provides monthly newsletters describing planned areas of interest throughout the month. They also give parents conversation starters to stimulate discussions about what your child has been doing that week. These include hints about songs, stories and other exciting discoveries that have occurred during their busy week.
We also do conferences for children in the 3-year-old classrooms, Pre-K classes and Transitional Kindergarten. Parents can meet individually with their child’s teacher and get to know more about their child’s special interests and how they are progressing as they grow, explore, create and learn.
Parent Involvement
Parents are an important part of our program and are encouraged to sign up to help in the classroom. We invite parents to help with special parties and other events, mystery readers, and classroom helpers. Families can come join an Open House in Fall, a Christmas program for all the families, plus a year end picnic and a heartfelt Graduation Ceremony for our Pre-K and Transitional Kindergarten classes in the spring.
