In November 2018, the Hope Ankeny congregation participated in Building 2 a Hope Beyond. This campaign helped us begin the construction of a two-level, approximately 21,000-square-feet Youth and Family addition that will enable Hope Ankeny to worship and grow deeper in our faith through classes and activities. We will soon have a completed building, but we need to fill it with the items necessary to fully utilize the space. An additional $800,000 is needed to get us to our $5,000,000 goal and Bring Hope to Life!
A message from Pastor Scott on Bringing Hope to Life:
I have a confession to make.
My faith can be pretty small.
When I arrived at Hope in November 2006, a little over 100 people were worshiping at Hope Ankeny. Six months later we moved into a middle school gym for worship and in November 2007 we had over 300 people in worship.
Some of them started to ask me … “When are we going to buy land and build a church?”
I said we should be able to grow to 1,000 people in the gym, but I didn’t really expect it to happen. Then, much to my surprise, God did it – and I was overflowing with thankfulness.
In the fall of 2015, we were meeting in a shiny, new, “state of the art” facility on one of the busiest streets in Ankeny, but I didn’t feel great. The truth is, I sort of felt lost.
I wondered, “Now what?” All the dreams, plans, prayers and hard work of the last eight years had been realized. It sort of felt like “Mission Accomplished.”
I knew that wasn’t a faithful mindset. I preach regularly on the idea that we never arrive this side of heaven. There’s always a next step of growth. But for a season, it was difficult to practice what I was preaching.
That season ended because of what God was doing in all of you. You continued to be involved in the life of Hope. You continued to invite. You continued to invest. You continued to love and serve in such a way that people experienced the love of Jesus through you. You were incarnational!
Your faith inspired me. I was watching you do what Paul encourages the Colossians to do: “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.” (Colossians 2:6)
What does it look for us to continue to follow Jesus as our Lord at Hope Ankeny? Well – the 10 for 10 Vision sure is helpful!
When I read about the 10 big goals for the next 10 years of ministry at Hope, my small faith is a little overwhelmed. Then I remember all God has done and I find myself once again dreaming … “What might God do next?!”
Bringing Hope to Life is a campaign that’s going to help us start to dream again! We have the opportunity to finish a 20,000 square foot addition to our building and greatly increase our ministry capabilities without adding a cent of debt.
Additionally, we have been presented the opportunity to purchase five acres of land adjacent to our property on the corner of 36th Street and Ash Street. What does God have planned for that land? Read the 10 for 10 Vision and dare to dream, Hope!
Together, let’s learn to dream again!
Together, let’s ask God to deepen and strengthen our faith!
Together, let’s BRING HOPE TO LIFE!
