The Passover was a special time to remember when God set his people free from slavery in Egypt. Each year a lamb would be sacrificed, the Passover lamb. This lamb had to be perfect in every way possible.
Why would Jesus tell a story like this? Well, parables always have a lesson. Jesus was telling the church rulers and teachers that they were missing something, or someone rather.
In our reading today Jesus is talking to his disciples about the future and to be honest, it doesn't sound great. It sounds hard and a bit scary. There is much of the future that we do not know. But Jesus gave a special promise too.
We talked about how we are in Holy Week. We are focusing on the things that happened and the reason we celebrate Easter. We know that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to give us all eternal life in heaven.
