Happy Friday Hope!
We have quite a few sayings around our church but one of my favorites is that we view the ministry God is doing through us as a “get to” rather than a “got to.” It can be tempting in our everyday lives to ignore or even resist the opportunities God invites us into because we feel a sense of duty rather than being overjoyed that God is including us in his transforming work.
This weekend I’m excited to continue our exploration of the Book of Esther and look at a moment when someone took a risk and said yes to God, not because she had to, but because she got to.
Some of our favorite “get tos” are right around the corner when over 1,000 kids and 500 volunteers will throw the biggest Jesus party in Ankeny at our campus’s VBS. If you still need to register or sign up to volunteer, it’s never too late and we’d love to see you there.
Also, starting this weekend, you will be able to pick up your child’s VBS T-shirt before and after services. Please note that T-shirt sizes are not guaranteed for registrations received after June 15, but we always do our best to get you a size that works for your child. All volunteer T-shirts can be picked up at the Vacation Bible School Volunteer Kick-Off on Sunday, July 21 at 3:00 pm.
Then after VBS, stick around on Saturday, July 27, for Taste of Hope – our annual block party with games, inflatables, fishing, a bonfire, and more. There’s something for everyone, including an extra worship service that afternoon at 3:00 pm because we know after VBS people are going to want to check out what God is up to at Hope on the weekends. If you’d like to volunteer for Taste of Hope, click here and we’ll get you plugged right into an awesome team.
I’m glad I GET TO see you around Hope!
