Good Morning Hope!

It’s Memorial Day weekend and for Americans it is a holiday to remember the people who lost their lives while serving in the United States military. I will visit the Veteran’s Cemetery in Earlham this weekend and see the gravestones that mark the resting place of veterans, including my dad. I will also walk some of the rows of white markers looking for the special designation of those who gave their lives while serving. And I will be praying and thanking God for the courage and hearts to serve that he placed in each of these soldiers. I will be thankful for the freedom that each helped provide.

I am also excited to be preaching this weekend as we close out our #ProverbsAndAMovie series. The movie this week is "Black Panther" and a look at how commitment to serve country rises out of a very biblical passion to love and serve everyone.

And speaking of serving… I want to welcome Matt Barrick who will be serving as our new Student Ministry Leader. Matt has a great passion to serve and lead youth into the love of Jesus. I will be introducing Matt at all weekend services and I hope you will take the opportunity to welcome him following the services in The Atrium.

Later today, parents of 5th-graders, current parents of junior and senior high students, and PowerLife and Ignition leaders will receive an email invitation from Matt to our first Student Ministry meeting next week on Wednesday, May 29 at 6:30 pm.

And speaking of serving…this has been an amazing year of ministry - and that’s because of you. We want to thank every person who serves at this church. It takes all of us to make our mission come alive. This weekend we will say thanks to all the volunteers! You rock and you absolutely make a great impact on the lives of people while glorifying God in love and service.

VBS (July 15-19) and our own Taste of Hope (July 20) are just 8 weeks away! Sign up the kids, sign up the students, sign up the adults! Registration is open and this is one great way to be part of the church and celebrate the love of Jesus across a full week. Visit the website to see all the great ways to participate.

One of the fun stations we are putting together for VBS is a block building station. We need all of your Amazon delivery boxes to make this station fun for kids. This will be a huge interactive place where kids will get a really fun experience building things while being reminded of how good it is to build your life on Jesus. So, start bringing in all sizes of cardboard boxes that are still in great shape. You can bring them to church every weekend!

I want to say that it is my great privilege and honor to serve you, this congregation, and the community. I appreciate your partnership in the Gospel. To God be the glory!
