Two churches, different in many ways, but drawn together by a shared mission to connect as many people to the everlasting love of Jesus Christ and grow His kingdom. Two churches, intentionally merging together to be a picture of God’s heart for radical unity, right here in Des Moines. Two churches, having long walked in relationship, now coming together as one…
Elim Christian Fellowship and Lutheran Church of Hope have been partners in ministry for close to 20 years, supporting, praying for, and joining together in ministry. Pastors and leaders from both churches have developed friendships for the past two decades.
In the Fall of 2019, when the opportunity came to acquire the facility at 2500 University for Hope’s Des Moines campus, leaders of both churches began to dream together about partnering in ministry in the city. It became clear that a merger of the two congregations was the most Biblical, effective way to build God’s kingdom in Des Moines and carry out the vision of being unity-agents and city-changers.
In an increasingly divided world, people are hungry for a unified church to be a light and example of how Jesus breaks down the dividing walls between us (Eph. 2:14).
We are thrilled to announce that Hope Des Moines and Elim Christian Fellowship have merged, with the new name of Hope+Elim at 2500 University. We invite you to read, watch, and learn more through the resources on this page. Stay tuned for all of the latest updates!
Together for the kingdom,
