Chris Gunnare serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Lutheran Church of Hope. Through this leadership role in the church, Gunnare provides guidance to the following ministries: worship, production, fellowship, administration, finance, hospitality, facilities, communications and Café Hope.
Chris grew up in Beresford, S.D. and attended Arizona State University, where he earned a degree in accounting. He and his wife, Denise, have three children: Chrystina, Caitlyn and Dylan. His family started attending Hope in 2000, when the church was still based at its old location (current site of Grace West). His first experience with Hope was a memorable one! He remembers his family waiting in line to get into the church and then being seated in a closet watching the service on a 19-inch monitor. At the conclusion of the service, they waited 25 minutes to get out of the parking lot. Despite all that, Chris and his family were hooked on Hope.
Chris joined the Hope staff in 2005, bringing with him a focus on five-star service that has helped earn Hope the reputation as being a friendly, welcoming place for all. In addition to serving on staff, he has also volunteered in various roles, including with Kingdom Quest and PowerLife, the hospitality team, Alpha, co-leader of Building Hope Chapter 2 & Building Hope Chapter 3, and also served two years on the church council.
