Prayer

It's God's desire that we "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Through prayer, God connects to us and then we connect to each other. The Prayer Ministry supports Hope's mission to "reach out to the world around us and share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ" through various forms of prayer:

  • To receive prayer, post your prayer request on the Prayer Wall or text PRAYER to 515-219-9093 where you'll be asked to submit your prayer. While on the Prayer Wall, you may also pray for others in the Hope family.
  • Come to Thursday Night Prayer: Thursdays, 5:30-8:00 pm. This is a wonderful time of silent soaking and/or verbal prayer with trained prayer partners. All are welcome to come and go as they please.
  • Walk the Prayer Path. Be surrounded by God’s creation, and pray as you walk Hope’s grounds (3/4 of a mile). See map and additional details here.
  • Experience the Prayer Labyrinth. Labyrinth walking is the practice for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer, and have long been used as mediation and prayer tools. Entering the path of a labyrinth, you walk slowly while quieting your mind and focusing on a spiritual question or prayer. Learn more!
  • Request a free Prayer Shawl. Hope’s Prayer Shawl-Making Group meets weekly to knit/crochet prayer shawls, all while praying over everything they make. Prayer Shawls can be requested for anyone who is wanting a shawl as a way to be wrapped in prayer. Request one here.
