Frequently Asked Questions about the Nursery

Q: Where do I pick up and drop off my child?
A: Please drop off your child at the Front Nursery. From there, staff and volunteers can direct you to where you need to go (depending on if it is for weekend worship or a weekday class).


Q: When is the Nursery open?
A: The Nursery is available during all services, beginning 15 minutes prior to worship. It is also available during designated weekday and weeknight classes that you have registered for that offer childcare (please check class or event details online to ensure childcare is available and if preregistration is needed for classes). We ask parents to pick up your child(ren) immediately following the end of worship and/or classes. The Nursery will always close by 8:30 pm.


Q: How will you contact me if an issue arrives while my child is in care?
A: When you check in your child, you will be asked to enter a telephone number that can be used to contact you should an issue arise (sickness, behavior, etc.). Typically, Nursery staff will try for 20 minutes to console the child. If after 20 minutes the child cannot be calmed, you will be called to come and get your child.


Q: How long can my child stay in care?
A: It is preferred that children be in care for only one service throughout the weekend. However, if you are volunteering for another class or program, we understand children may need to stay for two services.


Q: Can my child be in the Nursery if they have a cold or have been sick?
A: In order to provide a safe and healthy environment for all children and staff, you are asked to keep your child at home or with you for the following:

  • Fever, vomiting, or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
  • Runny nose with any colored discharge
  • Sore throat
  • Contagious, diseases, skin rashes or infections (ie: hand, foot and mouth; impetigo; chickenpox etc.)
  • Any infection that has not been treated with antibiotics (ie: strep throat or pink eye)
  • Lice

If your child develops symptoms while in the Nursery’s care, you will be called to come and pick up your child.


Q: Are treats or snacks allowed?
A: Due to a number of children within our care with food allergies, we do not allow any food items with peanut or tree nut products within the nursery. Thank you for your understanding!


Q: Does Hope offer a meal or snack?
A: Meals are not offered in the Nursery. The Nursery does provide Goldfish Crackers or Cheerios for snacks. You will be asked if your child can have these snacks when you check in. If they cannot, they will not receive our snacks, but you may leave a snack for them.


Q: Do I need to provide diapers or personal belongings for my child?
A: Yes, you are asked to leave a bag with any personal items you think your child may need during care. Please be sure to label each item with your child’s first and last name.


Q: Does the nursery accept donations?
A: Yes, donations are always welcome to help sustain this ministry! Donations of goldfish, diapers and toys are happily accepted.
